Using Comparison operators

Ok am stuck and cant get past this task Using Comparison operators. The task is. "Challenge Task 1 of 1

Add a conditional statement that tests if the value in the variable a is greater than the value in variable b. If it is, pop up an alert with the message 'a is greater than b'; also add an else clause that pops up the message 'a is not greater than b'."

My solution if ( a > b ){ alert("a is greater than b"); } else { alert ("a is not greater than b"): }

The error message am getting "There was an error with your code: syntaxError: parse error"

sorry about the lay out of the question I hade it laid out correctly some ting must have happened when I submitted the question.

It seems you have the second alert statement ended with a colon instead of a semicolon.
