Using Facebook Open Graph to post blog articles

I'm trying to figure out if I need to create an app or if I can just use my business FB page to populate the FB OG tags in my Jekyll blog. All I really want is to be able to do is to post articles to FB and have the title, excerpt, thumbnail, etc. work. I'd love a step-by-step guide but so far all I can find are instructions on how to set up the meta tags. I need to figure out the FB end of things first but their documentation hasn't been much help. Does anyone have experience with this who might be able to give me some pointers? Thank you.

Hi Carolyn,

It's been a while since I've looked at this but you can use the Facebook documentation for tips on how to customise Facebook links and how they appear on the website.

https://developers.facebook.com/docs/sharing/webmasters#markup

When you've customised the markup you can also use their tool to preview how your web page will look. It has to be a URL though.

I hope this has helped :)

Hi, Jonathan.

Thanks so much for the quick response. That link is helpful. I think my question could have been clearer. What I'm really stuck on though is whether I need to create an FB app and if I do, what features do I need to request? It looks like I might be able to use my FB business page instead of an FB app and use an FB admin ID instead of an app ID.

If I need to create an FB app. I'm also not sure what features I need to request. No problem if this is too far from what you normally do. I really appreciate that you responded though. :)

I have to say I may has underestimated how involved your question was. :) I haven't delved into the documentation much beyond using Open Graph for changing links.

My apologies but I'm glad i found something for you that might be useful. ,
