using JavaScript to call php method

Hello,

I am trying to use JavaScript or ajax to call a method from a php class Here is the method

public function getemail($email) { global $db;

$query = "SELECT user_email user_password FROM users WHERE user_email = '$email' ";

$obj = $db->select($query);

return $obj; }

I want to get the return value from this method in my javascript so i can use it there.
