Using String Methods Challenge

Hello I am stuck on the second task of the Using String Methods Challenge. I am on the part where you have to add # and uppercase Last Name to the end of username. Any assistance is appreciated.

app.js
var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith" += '#';

var userName = id.toUpperCase() + lastName.toUpperCase();
index.html
<!DOCTYPE HTML>
<html>
<head>
  <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
  <title>JavaScript Basics</title>
</head>
<body>
<script src="app.js"></script>
</body>
</html>

Hi Jordan.

See the hint you get:

// Bummer: There was an error with your code: ReferenceError: Left side of assignment is not a reference.

var id = "23188xtr";
id += '#';
var lastName = "Smith";

var userName = id.toUpperCase() + lastName.toUpperCase();

And you have to add the '#' after the id.

Best & happy coding ;)
