Using the Calendar API in Java?

Hi, I'm trying to make a hostel reservation system in the console just to get the logic down before Treehouse release the JavaFX course.

Does anyone have a good, easy to understand source/tutorial for understanding the Calendar API? Ideally, my reservation system will know how many days there are in any given month of any given year, and be able to pass that date into a reservation as an argument.
