UX Feature Request for TeamTreehouse

There’s a lot of really great nuggets of information in each video, but I find it extremely difficult to go back and find them if I haven’t recently viewed the video. For example, locating some of the Wordpress plugin recommendations for a specific task/goal takes quite a bit of effort if it’s not fresh on my mind:

Step 1.) Try to remember the name of the course.

Step 2.) Try to remember what section of the course it’s in.

Step 3.) Time to CMD+F on every video transcript until I’ve successfully located the snippet I was looking for.

Step 4.) Play the video and jump to the correct time - usually takes more jumping around to view any correlating graphics/screencasts

Would y’all consider streamlining this search process somehow?

I have a few thoughts on the UX if y’all are open to suggestions: 1.) On the library’s Search bar, any searches in “quotes” query the transcript content - not the course titles/topics.

2.) When loading any relevant courses from there, highlight all sections that have matching content in their transcript.

3.) When loading a specific video, highlight all matching content in the transcript (start the ‘video transcript’ section from the first piece of matching content, instead of always starting at the top)

4.) When a user clicks a section of the transcript, jump the video player to that specific point in time.

thats a great idea, and would be a massive improvment to treehouse, as i have this same problem a few times now.

I actually haven't had to do that yet. The suggestion you've made sounds like it would be really good though. I hope they can do this.

I like the idea of full text transcript searching :+1:
