Validation version of GetType

Is there some method that is able to check if a value is a particular variable type. I want to use an if statement to check to see if the variable is an integer [execute code] else {execute other code}

Yoi could do this using the GetType method mentioned in your question title:

if (myvariable.GetType() == typeof(int)) { /* do stuff */ }
