Vertical Rhythm with multi-line headers?

How can one maintain vertical rhythm with multi-line headers?

It's hard to maintain with multiple line-headers as aligning larger font-sizes to the baseline can make the header line-height too tight or too loose. I've found that finding a line-height for your headers that feels right works best vs. trying to make them conform to the grid. With headings or block quotes, it's okay if they break rhythm as that will draw users attention to them, so long as your paragraphs return to a consistent rhythm.

When you say "return to a consistent rhythm", is it important that the paragraphs pick up on the same rhythm they were on before they got interrupted, or is it ok to start their rhythm offset from the previous paragraphs rhythm, i.e. when a multiline heading causes an offset?

Or are you saying to completely uncouple paragraph rhythms on a page, and only keep them consistent under their respective heading?

Thanks Mike! If a multiline heading causes an offset, it's okay if the paragraphs start offset form the original rhythm so long as paragraphs following paragraphs create a consistent rhythm. With a static layout, it's much easier to achieve, but with responsive design, perfect vertical rhythm feels like chasing after the wind. Sorry, I could have been more clear with that in the course.
