Video Play Bar on TeamTreeHouse Videos

Is there any way to hide the playbar on the videos? I find it gets in the way and covers some of the code when it is important to see.

Anyone else having similar problem with this?

Hi Adam,

If you move the cursor away from the video window and somewhere else on the screen the playbar should hide automatically, is this not happening for you?

Thanks Alan

Hi Alan,

No this isn't happening for me unfortunately. It stays there even when I click onto another window. Maybe it's a window 8 thing? I'm using chrome. Don't seem to have the problem on the mac.

Sorry I haven't got Windows 8 to check but it seems to be fine in Chrome on Windows 7 so possibly a Win8 thing indeed. How about trying in full screen or resize the browser width so that it is smaller where it hides the playbar fully?

Sorry I can only suggest a workaround!

Thank you for your suggestions. I've tried making the video full screen but the play bar still stays visible. Think i'll just have to live with it. No major problem, just wondered if anyone else was having the same problem?

Same happens to me in Chrome in Windows 7, both in window and in full-screen.

Just to confirm I'm having problems on Win7 as well... I was in Firefox at the time and jumped right in! (its been a long day...) Anyway how about another workaround - Go to the Downloads section and right click on the video you want and select to open in new tab or window this opens ok for me, how about you guys?

I stinks that this is happening to you. I had the same problem. I re-installed Chrome and it seemed to fix the issue. Perhaps that will work for you as well.

Thanks,

Matt

In Windows 8.1, probably the same in 8.0, place the cursor (pointer) for the mouse or trackpad in the upper left hand corner of your screen. That will make the video controls disappear. This will work in either full screen view or the default video window size. To access the video controls, just move the cursor (pointer) away from that position.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your suggestion and I will use this for other videos. But this doesn't seem to do the job on the videos on TeamTreeHouse.

I will try and re-install chrome, see if that sorts it like it did for Matt.

Hi Adam, I use Firefox as my browser, not Chrome. Best regards!

Yeah I'm with Steve on using Firefox - bit of a shame not being able to use the browser of your choice though...

Cheers Alan

I move my cursor off the screen, wait 10 seconds (or so) and the video bar hides for me on Chrome under Windows 7.

10 seconds is a really long time to wait. Why the long delay? I just checked, and my video controls disappear in approximately one second.

I didn't time it, I just picked that number for troubleshooting purposes, if it doesn't go away after 10 seconds it's not going to happen.

I'm using Chrome on a Windows 8 touch-screen and was having the same problem. I uninstalled and reinstalled chrome with no luck at first. However, if I touch the the screen anywhere but on the play bar, it goes away. I tried this before the uninstall but it didn't work, so I'm assuming the reinstall fixed it.

Hope that helps!
