2,451 PointsVideos only load intermittently
Hi, A few times lately, from different connections & computers, Treehouse videos have not been loading.
If I sift through the network waterfall in Chrome find the video, & open in a new tab it will play much more reliably.
I'm speculating that the large video files don't stay on the Australian Cloudfront edge location for long, so when I view the pages the video fails while it's transferred from the origin server to my nearest edge location. ...or it could be something else.
I'm using Chrome on Windows 8.

199 PointsUsing Chrome Version 28.0.1500.71, videos never load (at least, not any of the ones I've tried to load so far, which include several in the iOS learning area as well as build a simple website and how to start a business). Using Safari Version 6.0.5 (8536.30.1), logged into the same account on the same computer, all videos load immediately and work fine.
MacBook Air 13" (Mid-2013, 1.3 GHz Intel i5 with 256GB SSD & 8GB RAM) running Mac OS X 10.8.4, including the just-released update for the mid-2013 MacBook Air. Both Chrome and Safari report being the latest update.

Sounds like you've got an extension installed on Chrome that is interfering with Treehouse. Try disabling them one at a time to see if you can find the culprit.

199 PointsGood call. The extension is HTTPS Everywhere, and I'm not sure I'm willing to disable it (even temporarily) just to watch these videos. Instead, I would ask where I make a recommendation that all items on the page be sent securely?
James Barnett
39,199 PointsHTTPS Everywhere has an issue with Akamai & Cloud Front if you disable those 2 rules the videos will play fine on Treehouse. Alternatively you can watch Treehouse videos in incognito mode.
Tagging Tommy Morgan on this one.

Treehouse Guest TeacherBacil Warren - so, we tried that (making video pages load HTTPS), and it wound up causing a lot of playback problems for people with certain browsers. We're keeping an eye out for solutions, but so far haven't found a way to turn HTTPS playback on without creating problems for many more of our users than are using things like HTTPSEverywhere.

199 PointsThanks James Barnett and Tommy Morgan for your help and feedback! Incognito mode sounds like a possible workaround for now.

2,451 PointsI'll try Firefox, though I don't have many Chrome extensions that I think would be a factor.
