Web Developers and Dribbble Designers teaming up?

Hey there,

I'm a aspiring Front-end web developer trying to build my portfolio. Looking at my portfolio now, I have a lot of code related examples and not that many design to code examples.

My coding skills are more advanced than my design skills. I think the problem is I lack visual creativity, but can flex my logic creativity skills pretty well.

I'm curious as to how you all feel I should boost this aspect of my portfolio.

One of my ideas was to approach designs and users I find fascinating on dribbble and seeing if they would mind if I coded the design.

I feel like the endeavor would be mutually beneficial for us both as they would have a working example of their design, and I would have a nice looking, nice functioning website to show.

What are your thoughts on this? Do people usually do this?

yea in every startup theres the developers and the designers... I'm the opposite of you I have better designs than coding so I know what you mean. It's rare for people to be good in both. I think "IDEAS" are more important than code or design along as you have a clever idea you will find designers or coders. At my job there's a web developer with a computer science masters and dude can create anything you tell him but his own ideas are sorry to say thrash... As long as you can understand what looks good and do research what type of designs are upto date you will be fine.

heres my portfolio would love to see yours www.jaysg.com

Hey Joe,

They haven't given me any invites yet, most likely because I'm new (a member for less than a day). I'll be sure to revisit this thread when I have an invite.

Regards,
Marcus
