Web Hosting Service options

Hey hey fellow treehousserrss..sists...erm.. coughs

Right my question! I've been looking up at various web hosting services and I see a massive difference in the big sharks like Dreamhost.com and such and the services available in my country. Not only are they cheaper but they seem to offer quite a lot more.

So my question is.. should I just go for a big company even if, i guess, the servers are located quite aways? Or should I stick with the options my country provides.

I'd also like to ask if buying the domains and the hosting from the same company has any benefits. Does it really matter?

You should get hosting where your target audience is. If most of the people going to you website are in your country id recommend getting hosting there. Lets say you get hosting in America and most of your users are from your country(not american I donno) then it will take longer to send data the farther the connection is. Also consider pricing, features etc... Make sure your hosting allows mysql and php. Id also look for a nice back end as well like cpanel or pleask although those arent great but they are a lot better than most out there

You list your location as Portugal, in terms of distance anything in Europe should work out great for you.
