1,301 PointsWebsite blocked by avast antivirus
I have made a small basic website loosely based around the web design track tutorials. www.hayleyphelpschildminder.com
I uploaded it using hosting by hosting for students (treehouse recommended) and cyberduck.
I added a google analytics code to see how it was doing and after a few days the website will not load on my desktop because my anti virus (avast) blocks it saying it is a harmful page. I read up and found that maybe the google code could be to blame. I removed the code, removed all of the html, css, img cont...

15,645 PointsHI Richard, my antivirus blocks the site saying your favicon.ico file is infected.

Richard Nicholls
1,301 PointsThat's interesting. Mine doesn't say that. So basically I've got an icon on the site that is not a good icon?

Tom Bedford
15,645 PointsI'm not sure, I've not encountered it before. Did you make the favicon yourself or use a generator online? It could be your computer is infected with something and has passed it on to other files including those of your site.
The path to the icon is hayleyphelpschildminder.com/favicon.ico

1,301 PointsI just looked into favicon.ico. and this is not anything to with the actual icons on the site it has more to do with an icon that displays in the a dress bar. It seems more and more that it has been hacked and this is something to with a redirect. I don't really know what to do now apart from change servers?

Tom Bedford
15,645 PointsYes sorry, I thought that it was a favicon you had intended to upload - it is the address bar icon. You can contact your hosting support or open a support ticket on this page they may be able to better help you resolve the problem.
If it is a problem with an infected file you inadvertently uploaded then changing hosts/servers would not necessarily solve it as you may upload the same file again.

1,301 PointsI tried their support over the past 7 days and it is useless. I have now switched web hosts but guess what? same issues. I am at a loss now

15,645 PointsYou could try different antivirus and scan your files again. It sounds like there is a problem with what you are uploading as it's getting flagged as infected. Scan your entire machine and see if anything is picked up.
Are all the assets (code and images) that you're using made/written by you or are you using some downloaded from the internet? If they are not all yours then something you downloaded to use on the site may be infected. I would initially suspect the favicon.ico file as you did not seem to know where it came from, though other files could also be infected.
It could also be completely unrelated to your website files and that your machine is infected with something that is also affecting the site files.

1,301 PointsGreat news. I left it a bit longer and now it's hosted by someone else it's fine. Must have been something on their side I guess but thank you so much for the help
