I love all the videos on actually coding websites, but I was wondering if there were any resources here or elsewhere that really dive into the planning phase since that's crucial to the coding/design part of the project.

you can try http://lynda.com

This is also a good step by step design workflow
Here are a few videos you can watch
- Responsive Workflow Conference talk
- Web Site Planning and Wireframing: Hands-On Training Lynda Video Course
- Foundations of UX: Prototyping Lynda Video Course

25,973 PointsThanks for all the info. I was thinking something along the lines of from "Yay I've got a client/project" through delivering/handoff and everything in between. I'll definitely check put those resources. I tried Lynda.com awhile ago and wasn't a fan really. Maybe I didn't try the right courses.

Python Development Techdegree Student 17,802 PointsThere is a design fundamentals course that is pretty good. It is more of a process type course though. Not much tech.
James can probably get you the link to it. ;)

Python Development Techdegree Student 17,802 PointsPs. That design fundamentals course is here on treehouse!

25,973 PointsYes sir. That's on my list and I've gone through a badge or two. Didn't think it talked about the initial planning phase though.
Thanks again.

Python Development Techdegree Student 17,802 PointsMight be the wrong one then. I'll look it up and let you know when I get back to the house.
It went over meeting with the client and the process you should think about going through before you start writing code.

Check out http://www.sitepoint.com/web-design-workflow-made-easy/ it starts with client prep & ends with client approval.
Also here's the link to design foundations course

Python Development Techdegree Student 17,802 PointsJames Barnett yeah that is a good one!
Keith Doyle this was actually what I was thinking of http://teamtreehouse.com/library/websites/design-foundations/becoming-a-problem-solver-2 It's short but I really got a lot out of it, again it is a 30,000ft view of the concepts but it gives you a great framework to build into.

39,199 PointsOn one hand, Lynda is a big website, and as not a very helpful suggestion.
On the other hand, I did find this course Web site planning and wireframing which looks perfect.
