28,736 PointsWebsite to help non profit organization
Hello there, I just have a little question. I'd like to build some websites for non-profit organizations.
Do you know a website I could use to contact some of them, or to be contacted ?

28,736 Pointstomlearnsstuff Is it an idea you have ? Something you want to accomplish ? It seems indeed to be an untapped niche...

16,963 Pointsgeoffrey A) Yeah, I just came up with it from realizing that a lot of people want to do something similar and non-profits obviously need this service. B) No, I don't have the time for a project like that right now. C) That's what I said: I think it would be a good idea.
I didn't realize that you want to use it to improve your wordpress skills and help a charity. I would agree with the other answers and say that the best way to achieve this would be to contact the charities yourself then. I personally don't know any, sorry.

the best way I would say to approach this is to find local one as they are most likely to need the help :)

28,736 PointsIn fact It's not just to gain experience as I already have a job as front-end. However I had the idea to use wordpress, to know it a bit better. I just really want to help that kind of organization, that will be something good I can do. I haven't found a website for that, that's why I asked it here, in case It's hidden within this world wide web. Maybe approaching local organization is the way to do that... But well, I don't like it much :).

Nice thought! It could help to each out to local NPOs/charities/foundations in your area OR identify some of personal interest in other larger cities. I note "larger cities" because I've found that they often have more resources for locating these types of organizations. For example, here in Portland, Oregon, we have a few different local NPO type sites that connect job seekers/volunteers (macslist.org and cnrg-portland.org are two) Additionally, there's idealist.org, a huge database of charitable organizations, jobs, and volunteer opportunities. Even if there aren't any posted positions for a web dev, you may still be able to check out their sites, and if they clearly need a refresh, reaching out can never hurt! I hope this helps some! Best of luck.

27,930 PointsHi Geoffrey,
I could do with some experience working as park of a group and being involved with other developers and designers so if you would be interested in collaborating to some degree on this type of thing I would love to help. I have experience with WordPress and have a couple of sites that are live working on WordPress installs so would be able to possibly help out in that area to.
Let me know your thoughts...

27,930 PointsHi Konrad,
I started towards the end of 2014 if I remember correctly, my first look at any programming or coding was when I signed up for treehouse. The not knowing how best to learn I can definitely relate to as it took me a while to get used to picking things up from videos, however once I started using workspaces and following along I soon got going. One thing that helped me a lot was signing up for CodePen, it gave me the chance to recreate things and experiment.
I would say I am now more than comfortable with any CSS or HTML and that includes writing clear semantic code with the correct use of HTML5 elements. I a comfortable with WordPress and have launched two sites which you are welcome to take a look at, CARS Recruitment and CarJobsUK. I am in the process of rebuilding CARS Recruitment from the ground up, it required moving provider quickly so I modified a theme to make the move and am now building using Bootstrap 4.
I will stress that I have probably has more time to learn than most because I started this adventure due to being off work through illness.
I am just starting to get involved with the odd open source project like Bootstrap and WP Job Manager so those are things I am looking forward to.
My twitter account is @rokkitpress and it pretty dull at the moment but is you ever want to reach out please feel free! :)

16,963 PointsI take it you're looking for experience? How about creating a website that helps connect inexperienced web designers to non-profit organisations? Seems like an untapped niche, that is mutually beneficial... You'd gain experience, make a name for your self and help others along the way :-) Just a thought
