what am i doing wrong here

cant seem to figure out this question

Hi Deshawn,

Your last line is trying to access variables called "ul" and "li" but those aren't the variable names used with your selectors -- they're undefined and don't correspond to anything in your code. Since the unordered list is assigned to the variable "myList" and the first list item is assigned to "firstListItem" use these variable names instead:

myList.removeChild(firstListItem);
