What are some good layout guidelines for mobile devices?

Hello,

I’m creating a little landscape website for a project. I’m looking at sites out there offering similar services and some of them are great, but others are just too long.

Like they give plenty of info, but sometimes it’s too much.

Is it bad to remove/condense information into a button click, instead of displaying the info that’s available on the desktop version?

A good example would be how areas that the company services could be a button saying “click to see if we’re available in your area!” Instead of a huge list of cities, and that list is made into its own page?
