What are the differences between the new and old "Simple Android App" lessons? I was midway through the old one

I'm wondering if I should finish the old one or try to start over with the new one.

I got stuck when the Android Studio layout was different, so maybe the new one is easier to follow.

My preference would be to start midway through (where we started adding pictures) the new one... is there a way to get the code Ben uses?
