What are the minimum Macbook requirements needed for iOS development?

I am planning on learning swift for iOS development. I know I need a mac for this, but I am not looking to spend too much money. I was planning on getting a Macbook for portability. What are the minimum Macbook requirements needed for iOS development?

You need the software xCode, that does take quite a lot of space on your machine. But if you have the space then you don't have to worry about hardware. Any macbook will do wonders for you.

Would it have to have the latest version of iOS? I am just trying to figure how old of a Macbook I could get and still be able to develop.

It does in fact require OSX El Capitan or later.

That is what I needed to know. Thanks!

Xcode (which is what you'd be writing code in) requires OSX 10.11.5 (El Capitan) or later according to the App Store.

So any Mac which can run El Capitan would do.
