What customer segment model would you say LinkedIn has? Multi-sided or Niche?

LinkIn is a networking site, so I am guessing that the employers and job-seekers are inter-dependent. So there would need to be different value propositions for both groups?

Is this correct?

Is a multi-sided customer segment.

Of course, Linkedin has different value propositions for people and for enterprises, just check the different packages it offers to both.

Yes I agree it has different value propositions. It clearly states that its free package is just for vocational networking, while its pro package serves those seeking jobs, new talent and so on. So Linkedin is multi-sided, but it begins from a niche perspective of the professional seeking to make connections in their specific sector.

well dare I say that it is a niche and this answer is open for discussion as well. LinkedIn I believe is a social network platform and from their packages it seems that they are more focusing on professional networking meaning that they are more focusing on networking on a professional base as opposed to Facebook and other platforms

Yes I agree linkedin begins from the niche perspective of professional networking. Its free package is just for vocational networking, (no direct profit motive) while its pro package serves those seeking jobs, new talent (HR professionals) and so on. So Linkedin is multi-sided in that respect, beginning from a niche perspective of professionals seeking to make connections in their specific sector.
