What do I need to know in order to make a website like Facebook?

Hi,

I am trying to create a website that interacts with users like Facebook. What courses do I need to take in order to make the website beside "Web Design" and "Front End Web Development"?

If I would like to convent my website into an app, can I just pay the developer to make my website into an app? Thanks for your help.

If you just want to make a social networking site you could use a CMS like Wordpress or Drupal and a few plugin. If you want to code your own then you'll need to take almost every course on treehouse ( not the mobile app classes) and then learn database design and software design patterns,
