What does a freelance front-end developer do??

Hello,

This question might sound a little silly, but just hear me out. What does a freelance developer have to offer a client? When I think front-end developer I think coding html, css, javascript, jquery and that kind of stuff. But if you want to be a freelance front-end developer do you have to design your sites too? What about back-end stuff? Is it really possible to be a stand-alone front-end developer without asking for help from a web designer or back-end developer? It would be great to hear from actual freelance front-end developers!! Thanks in advance.

I would suggest doing simple static websites for small companys and individuals that dont require programming. Websites that function as simple business reference tools. Websites that dont require any interaction from the users side. Portfolio sites, websites detailing small businesses services and such.
