Funny, I just covered this in Head First Javascript programming. So I will Quote them.

'The secret to learning what is truthy and what is falsey is to learn what's falsey.

1: undefined is falsey.

2: null is falsey.

3: 0 is falsey.

4: The empty string is falsey. eg- ""

5: NaN is falsey.

everything else is truthy. except false because that is well.. false.'

A string is "truthy" if it exists and has a length.
