what does the . do?

In the following line from the video, Hampton used a dot:

return "Product Name: ". $this -> name;

I am not sure we have covered it yet (I could be wrong).

What does it do?? Why is there a space after it??

Thanks Leon

It's ok - I remembered:

The . concatenates strings and the space is to aid legibilty in the code!

is it same if we say like this ?

return "Product Name: $this -> name";

so at here we don't need concatenates again
