Python Python Basics Functions and Looping Returning Values

What does the return function do in python?

I am learning how to return values, I am creating a program that executes the value of what each person earns in a cheque for a meal.

The return function passes an object back from a function or method call. Without a return statement, the default value returned will be None.

def make_upper(string):
    """function that returns a string in all uppercase text"""
    return string.upper()

# call function
result = make_upper("What does the return do?")
print(result)

# output will be: WHAT DOES THE RETURN DO?
