What happens after you complete a techdegree?

What happens after you complete a techdegree? Specifically:

  1. Do you get keep your techdegree projects on team treehouse after you finish the techdegree program on your profile somewhere OR are they made live on your own website/s & do you own them?

  2. What resources does treehouse have to help techdegree grads find & secure work if any?

  3. After completing a techdegree, should a grad be competent enough to perform a corresponding junior position somewhere or is there more education needed?

  4. Should I be complementing a techdegree with anything else to be job-ready? (I have no college degree or certifications.)

  5. How are techdegrees received by the public re public attitude of experience vs formal education in IT?

Do you have to maintain a tech degree account to keep what you have accomplished after finishing it or can you return to basic or pro afterwards and lose nothing (just not be taking quizes & given assignments)?

Desiree Lauterbach you can downgrade back to Pro or Basic and not lose out on what you've accomplished with your Techdegree progress.

Hi Desiree Lauterbach!

Great questions! I'll answer them in the order you've asked them:

  1. You'll be encouraged to showcase these on your very own portfolio site for you to share with potential employers.

  2. We won't be providing guaranteed job placement, however we will be working with employer partnerships and offering career resources to get you ready to land an opportunity as a developer. We should have our Career Services Program ready to go within the next 6-8 months.

  3. This is indeed the case. We've already had few students who recently got hired into junior developer positions after going through a Techdegree, and it's only just begun!

  4. There's no denying that you can always do more to enhance your knowledge and chances. With that said, be mindful about taking on too much at once. We have hundreds of courses at your fingertips, feel free to explore and challenge yourself to what you feel comfortable with and you can still do courses while going through a Techdegree.

  5. It's still in it's infancy but so far we're seeing promising results. We have students who have gone into the Techdegree program and have been hired on at companies. We also have companies like Buzzfeed, NASA, HomeDepot, and many others, who use Treehouse to further train and enhance their employee's skillsets.

I hope this information is of some help to you Desiree. Feel free to reach out to us in Support at help@teamtreehouse.com if you happen to have any other questions or concerns.

@RobAllessi Just to mention, Desiree Lauterbach had some earlier questions posted at the forum that could benefit from a response from treehouse staff.
