what is best place to buy wordpress theme?

I'm looking for a good theme for a non-profit...

Hello,

I do not know if I'm allowed to answer. In any case, I think it is best to try on http://themeforest.net/

Best regards.

If you get a theme from ThemeForest, use extreme caution. Some themes have a number of unresolved tickets, or the developers have abandoned it and it hasn't been updated in years. For others the instructions may be only in a language you don't understand. Look at reviews, support tickets, and number of downloads very carefully. There are good themes to be found there, but it can be very hit and miss. Elegant Themes suit some people but not all. They seem to essentially double their subscription rates each year, for one thing, and themes cannot automatically update - you need to re-upload it (and thus be subscribed) each time an update comes out. Themes often start to fail pretty badly when updates are missing.

I often recommend StudioPress Genesis child themes because they are so well supported with lots of documentation and update automatically. Better yet, find a developer who can get you a good deal on a Genesis setup, which is what I try to do for my clients.

You might also investigate many of the well-documented free themes out there such as twentyfifteen etc., as well as Underscores (_s) which you can get via GitHub.

Hope that helps!

Yes I agree with your comments about Theme Forest. And yes it's also true that you need to be subscribed to Elegant Themes to keep them updated but they do automatically update via a plugin (which checks your subscription status-of course).

I also have the Genesis Framework but wasn't able to find a child theme that I really liked but I do really like your website. Does that run on Genesis? Just curious.

Thanks for the insight John

Yes, it's Genesis - actually surprisingly easy to customize once you get the hang of it. My site is built on the Parallax child theme.

Thanks for that, design is not my strong point. I hope I get the chance to return the favour or at least you’ve built a lot of good Karma. I’ll spend a bit more time playing with Genesis. Kind Regards John

Hi Leah,

As mentioned Theme Forest have WordPress specific non profit premium themes.

You will also find some via Google searches and websites such as Premium WordPress.

If you don't necessarily need a paid for / premium theme you may find what you're looking for on the WordPress Themes Directory. You can also access these via the admin by navigating to Appearance > Themes > Add New.

If you're not browsing a standard theme website I would recommend you check the site before downloading.

Hope that helps.

Hi Leah

Try Elegant Themes. They have a membership that allows you to access all of their themes for about the cost of one theme on theme forest. I recommend their DIVI theme which they always keep up to date but if you choose one of the others make sure that they are fully responsive.

Or if you want something really simple try "Responsive" by Cyberchimps. They have a free version which you can download from the WordPress repository or you can buy the premium version that gives you more options.

My company website (Cope I.T.) uses divi but you can find some of my other designs in the portfolio section. If you want to know which theme I used for each site please let me know.

Hope this helps

John

Glad to be of help! There is the "upvote" button... :-)

Of course there is OPPS , I should also brush up on my forum etiquette !

Hi, Leah.

Try Crocoblock Themes Club. They have 3 free themes for starters. I like this club because all sample data is included and because it's cheap, 130+ themes for a price of one on Theme Fores. Also, all themеs are modern-looking, neat and minimalistic.

I hope it will help.
