What is DS_Store and why does it keep downloading itself onto my Windows machine?

is it of any value?

Quoting Wikipedia:

.DS_Store (short for Desktop Services Store) is a hidden file with a proprietary format created by OS X to store custom attributes of a folder such as the position of icons or the choice of a background image.

Most likely the DS_Store file is being added by someone else on the project that is working on a Mac. If you're using Git for version control, then consider adding .DS_Store to your gitignore

You can also just continuously delete the DS_Store file, it won't harm anything.

Thanks -- great advice
