JavaScript JavaScript Basics (Retired) Storing and Tracking Information with Variables Using String Methods

What is "of the id variable to the userName variable"?

I am having trouble understanding this question.

For example, I am having trouble seeing what the id var is to the userName var in trying to use the .toUpperCase() command.

app.js
var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith";

var userName
username.toUpperCase()
index.html

  <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">

</head>
<body>
<script src="app.js"></script>
</body>
</html>

Hi Cristabel Nichols ,

You are on the right track but your code isn't correct because the assignment operator is missing and you are attempting to transform username which doesn't exist as a variable. Instead, what you need to do is use the toUpperCase method on the id variable and assign that to the userName variable.

var userName = id.toUpperCase();

Happy coding!
