what is wrong with my code?

In the listener that has been added to the section element, ensure that the text input elements are the only children that trigger the background-changing behavior.

because, the question states, if not for input type, let not the background change, and the condition, you are giving is for the LI, approach is fine, just change the condition to check for INPUT.

what does the question say - it says, text input elements are the only children, that trigger, the change behaviour

if that is what the question ask, you have actioned the task, for the child LI, to change the behaviour, that is wrong against the question.

now you have to approach, find how would you do that to the INPUT element, rather than the LI element case sensitive too

if (e.target.TagName == 'li') 
change to
if (e.target.TagName == '?????') {
