What is wrong with this code?

I suspect that it is because of the numbers variable but i dont know how to fix it.

item.py
# EXAMPLE
import random
numbers = list( from 0 to len(ite) - 1)
item_list = list(ite)
# random_item("Treehouse")
def random_item(ite):
    return item_list[random.randint(numbers)]
# The randomly selected number is 4.
# The return value would be "h"
