7 =111 / 0000001=1 the byte represantation of 00000111 is 7.

Since the very last switch is ON, the second-last switch is ON, and the third-last switch is also ON, you add up all those numbers.

The last switch represents 1, second-last switch represents 2, and the third-last switch is 4.

If we add 1 + 2 + 4 we get 7 which is the answer :)
