Courses Plus Student 13,560 PointsHey Johnathan,
what i would say is in order to become a successful iOS developer all it takes is some effort. the way i said "this is when I'm a successful iOS developer" was at the start I said what are some apps that are really hard that i want to be able to build, in my case I wanted to build a cool social app and publish it on the app store.
anyways with that in mind in order to get there i started out at treehouse, watched there videos (which are awesome) and decided to do as much extra credit as possible. from there i went to raywonderlich.com (seriously one of the best tutorials out there) and started to pick up other resources (NSHipster.com objc.io matt heatney (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQkn7EImMp5sHtFbALgYrsA)) anyways then it was time to start working on my own projects. the first one was a rotten mangoes app then a photo app where you can add filters and share it with friends (you can check it out, it's open source and in my page you can probably see it) and then I started at a company in Vancouver for the summer.
any ways, kind of off topic but the way to get there is to keep learning, stay tuned from multiple sources and possibly most of all, keep working on projects. You can read and watch videos or you can write the code.
this might not be what you were looking for but it's a short story on how i got there (obviously for every it's very different).
Happy hacking, Kai.

9,688 PointsDo lots of reading. The treehouse videos only scratch the surface. And always ask lots of questions.

12,583 PointsI think the answers you are going to get from people are going to be pretty similar in principle i.e. "just keep going". The only thing you need to become a successful iOS developer is the desire to become one. If you have that, you'll naturally ask the right questions and do the right things, and one day you'll get paid. It really is as simple as that, because all the resources you need are readily available.
