What skill level does completing simple and enhanced PHP courses put one at?

Hello, I was wondering what skill level does going through the PHP courses get a person up to? Would I be considered employable after these courses?

My suggestion would be to finish the Become a PHP Developer learning adventure first.

Okay, thanks. It seems between the learning adventure and the advanced PHP techniques I should be well on my way.

im doing the php developer adventure at the moment and it seems to me that when I finish I will have a basic understanding only. This is nothing against the course because its great , I think it is a great way to learn quickly, but it really is giving you just a foundation and setting you in on the right track. To become proficient enough to consider yourself an employable developer I think you would need to continue studying and do lots of practice projects. Practice and experience is the key to learning anything of course. I might be a noob in web development myself but I do have over 10 years experience working in support and networking in corporations , working with developers first hand (providing them with the platform they work on for example, building dev web and db servers etc) so have a good idea of the level required.

Thanks @Phil,

I have some experience with PHP already so I'm taking this as a refresher really. So I'm hoping to find some more advanced stuff after I get through it.

sounds good - i think the course here are good for updating your skills as they seems to be focused on modern technologies so the php developer adventure good be a good route to follow to brush up on the related skills but (and im not at this point yet) it doesnt seem to focus too much on PHP! Ive studied some php before but never got too far but im not expecting to learn too much PHP from this route, but im finding the CSS3 stuff very useful.

There is the next level course that take the simple project of the learning adventure and enhances it, so hopefully it get's deeper into the meat of PHP.

Like you say, the current adventure focuses a lot on CSS. Which seems strange to me.

yep agree, whilst I can see the need for the CSS stuff i would have thought for something that was meant to be teaching you to be a PHP developer it would focus more on the php programming in more depth , mysql etc

Il take a look at that project , not seen that yet.thanks
