What software is used to make the treehouse videos?

I realize that Treehouse has professional studios etc for recording the video, but I am more interested in the animations within the videos. I want to make some basic explainer videos and do something similar with animations.

I would guess a number of applications are involved, but I'd be curious to know also. (I'm following this question.)
