Hi dee,

The reason you can't pass the challenge is because of the whitespace in the variable name in the console.printf():

// I have setup a java.io.Console object for you named consolefirst
firstName = "Dee";
consolefirst.printf("/s can code in Java!", firstName);

If I didn't understand your question, please leave a comment.

Hi Dee Dee,

You need to declare the datatype of the variable firstName.

String firstName = "Dee";

This statement should fix your error.

I see a few errors in your code.

First your need to declare the data type for the "firstName" variable like this: String firstName = "Dee";

Second you need to use the percent or % symbol instead of the backslash /s like this %s

Third you need to remove the space between "first" and "Name" in the second line. From this: console.printf("/s can code in Java!", first Name); To this: console.printf("/s can code in Java!", firstName);

Final answer:

String firstName = "Dee";

console.printf("%s can code in Java!", firstName);
