What track should I be on??

I am currently building a social network based around a user chat function (similar to MSN Messenger), but am slightly confused about which track would serve my needs best. I have completed the 'How To Build A Website' module, and now am pondering which language will help me toward building my chat engine. My options as I see it are either PHP or Ruby, but which would be best for me? I intend to complete both of course, but I am simply looking at which one would be more helpful to complete first.

Also, any suggestions for another track which I haven't considered? One which would take me in the same direction?

heres some stuff on building social networks. http://teamtreehouse.com/library/build-a-social-network-with-flask/upcoming this course uses flask which is built python so you would probably need to start here http://teamtreehouse.com/tracks/learn-python

i cant say too much about the chat feature your looking for but i know for sure you can build social network with ruby on rails. However im learning python now and i find it easier to understand than ruby.

in conclusion, i think python and ruby will take you closer to your goals way faster than php.
