Personally, on what I wanted to achieve I thought PHP was a good decision to learn first as it allowed me to add database functionality to projects.

Courses Plus Student 11,734 PointsYou could do what Kennard recommended, which is to learn both equally at the same time. Or you could try what I did and learn PHP first, build functioning dynamic websites and then learn JavaScript to add better functionality on top.
It's entirely up to you. If I could go back and do it all again I would probably try the way Kennard mentioned. But I can't vouch for that method :D
