Whats the benefit of using Gradle build versus a Maven?

Just curious why you are teaching Gradle versus maven? It seems like Gradle uses Maven resources anyway so why not just use an xml file to manage the dependencies.

Gradle is newer and much more intuitive to use. Maven is XML-based so that makes it much harder to read and, frankly, much more annoying to use.
