WordPress Local WordPress Development Local WordPress Development Introduction to Local Development

Whats the difference between this course and how to install wordpress on your computer?

So I took the how to install wordpress on your computer and wordpress basics. Then saw this course which seems pretty much the same as how to install wordpress on your computer at first glance. Any difference between this course and the how to install wordpress on your computer? should i take this if im doing the wordpress track?

"Install WP on your computer" uses DesktopServer from Serverpress.com..this program can be run in a free and a premium modus. It uses xampp and it is like an express function (wordpress is immediately installed and your project has a toplevel domain called .dev..it is possible to transfer (3 projects in free or more projects in premium mode) this developped WP site to a live server with help of the program. The Local development course shows you how to install and use MAMP for the Apple and XAMPP for Windows. How you set up your local server, how to install WP manually and how to migrate manually.

In short, there is a difference..Like with a car, you should learn to drive manual in order to enjoy manual and automatic transmission cars. This course is like learning to drive manual...manually setting up a local server. I recommend you to take both courses.

Features of Desktopserver taken from serverpress.com: Create a Locally Installed WordPress Site in Seconds Cross Platform (Mac & Windows) The ONLY WordPress Optimized Local AMP Stack Support for Dreamweaver Live View (Premium) Full Panic Coda Support (Premium) Easy Custom Configuration with Blueprints Direct Deploy to Live Site (Premium) Multisite Support (Premium) Create and Manage an Unlimited Number of WordPress sites (Premium) Expanding Library of Developer Plugins

This course teaches you how to setup a local server that can also allow you to work on any other sites made for apache servers.

I think they are talking about local hosting with mamp. And if wordpress is your track and you want to know everything about wordpress, then I would absolutely look into it. : )
