What's under the hood with Responsive img via bootstrap?

If i would like to get the same effect with writing proper CSS, what would i write in my code?

To get the same effect of giving images responsiveness in CSS, as that shown in the bootstrap video, you need to give images a width of 100%.

  width: 100%;
}
