When adding getResources()

When adding getResources(). Like the code

Resources resources = getResources(); mAndroidNames = resources.getStringArray(R.array.android_names);

I need add the Resources constructor to get android_names but in quiz of "string Resources", when I declare a string, and also this string was included in .xml file. When I want to reference this in .java file, Why I don't need to add Resources constructor?
