when deleteSections should be passed a NSIndexset?

I am so very confused here. When Ash is modifying the sections, he always use a NSIndexset in lieu of a section, why are there two the same thing?

Also, he initiates it by [NSIndexSet indexSetWithIndex:sectionIndex] Since sectionIndex is just a number, does it make a NSIndexSet a set with only one number? So confused.....
