When i type in git commit it just says: fatal: fatal: Not a git repository (or any parent up to mount point /home/treeho

This sounds like it's not able to find the hidden .git directory.

I would ensure that you're at the root of your project with the cd command before trying again.

If it's still happening, can you make sure you've run git init to initialize this as a git repository?
