When to start finding a job in the field?

So ive been doing this track for a month and plan on moving up to the android development track very soon. The question I have is how long has it taken anyone on this site to find a job? And when is a good time to start looking? How do I stand out amount the crowd of college grads and 5 year veterans?

It's a hard question. It really depends on you, if you think you know enough about Java you can start right away... I would recommend to try and write some apps by yourself for practice, best way to see how much you know.
