573 PointsWhen using the mask tool with a rectangle and circle as shown, the circle fill is still visible. Am I missing something?
The mask affects the edges of the rectangle as in the video, but I can also still see the fill of the circle (the border is gone). Am I doing something wrong?

15,353 PointsI think this was changed during an update. Just hide (the eye icon on hover) the "Mask" in the layer section on the left side.

There's also behavior with masks that I find to be poor choices in their application design:
It's not intuitive that the mask is actually the "back" object. Even in real life, a mask is something that is an object on "top" of something.
Why did they decide to now have the mask still be visible behind the clipped image? I can't think of a use case where you'd want to have both visible. Perhaps I've been using Illustrator too long?
Having to go through several extra clicks (expanding the folder, then finding and selecting the right layer to hide) is a lot of extra work for something that should all be handled with a single click.

3,407 PointsI was confused by this as well! When you mask the two shapes, they will group together in a folder on the left. If you open the folder, you should have the rectangle and the oval, which is now called Mask. If you click the 'eye', the oval disappears and the rounded rectangle effect is what you're left with.
