Where are NPM packages downloaded?

I'm working locally on my own computer, not work spaces. When I downloaded the bcrypt package, it didn't show up in my project files. Where would this be downloaded to by default?

The bcrypt package will be downloaded to inside the node_modules folder which lives in the same directory as your package.json.
