6,600 PointsWhere should I go from here...?
Hello Treehouse Community,
I am seeking some advice from those of you with more experience than myself. I currently have a solid foundation and understanding of HTML and CSS. I also understand a little bit of PHP, and how to set up Wordpress.
My goal is to eventually create wordpress themes (and maybe plugins) from scratch. However, I don't know what track I should pursue next. It's between the in depth PHP course or the Wordpress development course.
My dilemma is where to go from here. I will be learning Python in school, but also want a solid understanding of Wordpress to eventually do some freelancing for clients.
Which course, given my situation, would you recommend? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated and be a huge help in making my decision.
Thanks, Alex

Your passion seems to be with wordpress. In reading your passage it would be my first choice. Next work on PHP. You will be learning Python in school make that your third choice.

I work primarily with WordPress and have even created a theme for distribution via the WordPress.org repo, I know exactly how you feel. My advice would be to complete the PHP track before going deep with WordPress development. You've expressed a desire to build plugins and themes, with WordPress you'll need to have a solid and even advanced understanding of PHP to really produce quality themes and plugins.
tl;dr - Complete the PHP track then move on to WordPress development.
Hope this helps!

6,600 PointsHey Dewane,
Thanks for your insight, I too believe that having a solid foundation with PHP will pay off in the long run. The only thing holding me back is that I didn't know if I should be bouncing back and forth between learning Python at school, then PHP here on Treehouse.
I guess I should prepare to learn them both!
Thanks again, Alex

6,600 PointsHi Mark,
Thank you for your feedback. I was leaning towards the Wordpress Dev course too, but didn't want to start a course that may have a pre-requisite of knowing PHP.
