PHP Integrating PHP with Databases Limiting Records in SQL Setting Up Pagination Variables

Where/how is the value "pg" defined ?

Alena uses "pg" in the if (ISSET($_GET["pg"])) condtional for for the if block that sets the current_page varable. I cannot see where we are getting "pg" from.

Thanks all for your help!

Hi Matt!

She doesn't show an example of it, unfortunately, but "pg" would come from the queryString.

You would have to call the page from the browser address bar something like this:

IntegratingPHPwithDatabasesOnLocalHostOrWorkspace/catalog.php?pg=pageNameOrNumber

This being where the $_GET["pg"] is created:

catalog.php?pg=

Keep in mind that IntegratingPHPwithDatabasesOnLocalHostOrWorkspace and pageNameOrNumber are just made up for the example.

I hope that helps.

Stay safe and happy coding!

Thanks Peter, that is very helpful as always :)
