WordPress WooCommerce Theme Development Starting a Custom WooCommerce Theme Setting Up the Theme - Part 1

Which are the core template files Zac talks about?

In this video Zac talks about starting to make custom theme but from one that is WooCommerce comparable out of the box.

"When building a WooCommerce theme, you should start with a theme that already has the necessary core files for a basic WordPress site."

But which files are those?

What do I need to do to make sure when I select which page WooCommerce needs to serve as the basket page to make sure that a basket/cart actually appears. Because I know that products are in fact being added to a basket behind the scenes. I just don't know why I can't see it on the screen.

Hey Jonathan,

I haven't taken the course, but often learning materials can be found in the "download" tab below the video. Are these project files not what you're looking for?

Hi Jay,

I've probably downloaded those files for the course itself but I';m doing a completely custom theme.

I got the impression I just had to work with WooCommerce short codes but going from the downloads for the final theme I need to copy the cart.php file and adapt it for my own theme?

That said, when I try it with the default themes the cart will appear. I just wish i could get a handle on what's going on. :(

Thanks for your reply :)
